For My Eyes Could Not Turn Away

For my eyes could not turn away,
Flowing red locks glistened in light,
You laid hold of my heart that day.

I approached you without delay,
Your beauty held fixed in my sight,
For my eyes could not turn away.

Loss of words; not sure what to say,
My breath but shallow and chest tight,
You laid hold of my heart that day.

Neither acts nor words could convey,
The knowledge of how it was right,
For my eyes could not turn away.

How truly blessed has been my way,
Since first our two souls did unite,
You laid hold of my heart that day.

In your arms forever I pray,
And think back, as day turns to night,
For my eyes could not turn away,
You laid hold of my heart that day.

Innocent Love

Tender eyes upon a tender life.
How precious the innocent,
when love is the motivator,
without thought of self.
If only we were to imitate,
however fleeting it should be,
a moment of love in innocence,
oh, how our world would change.
